A little bit more about my background

I've had the pleasure of contributing to my mom's successful coaching business, Suzan Oran & Associates, in various ways since 2014. Her business, which was created in 1986, has been an incredible example of the powerful impact coaching can have for so many people from a wide variety of backgrounds.

That example led me to recently completing a Life Coaching Certification program in October 2019, which I'm truly thrilled about.

But before setting my sights on working as a coach (just taking a step back), I received my bachelor's degree in philosophy from Arizona State University and later completed my master's degree in journalism from the University of Missouri. That path led me in many directions, from various reporting jobs to opportunities living in places like New York City, Atlanta, Minneapolis, Cleveland, Pittsburgh and now Seattle. (I don't just love moving across the country for fun, believe it or not, but I know all about the ups and downs of adjusting to new environments on your own while staying empowered, which I believe is a great asset for my transition-specific coaching.)

My deep interest in the importance of effective communication that supports people in being open and expressing themselves has been present for me since college. My thesis project explored interview techniques for journalists to support people in expressing their ideas and increase information gathered during an interview by using open communication.

My love for writing and interest in my mom's business went hand in hand when I was given the opportunity to help her and Scott Conard, MD write the book The Art of Medical Leadership in 2014.

I have a deep commitment to people being empowered in their lives by being informed, educated and supported. All of these experiences have led me to where I am now, fully committed to being an advocate for others within my own business and being the very best coach I can be!
